More Flood Picts

Remember the picts I just posted of Gun Club Road? We just looked at a video clip one of Ceana's CHS school friends took after school today. Remember how the water was past the bridge but still at the bottom of the hill on the South side? The video clip showed the water far past that point, with deep standing water that showed the another apartment complex and a residential property flooded. That is just before the road turns into the high school. We just got a phone call that the school district is closing for tomorrow. Sports fields and new parts of the high school have also been flooded.

 These images are taken at one of our favorite parks. Normally there is a very small creek running through the park under the bridge (below) and the creek bank is very deep. As you can see the park is flooded 1/2 way up the pavilion and almost to the top of the bridge. You can see at the very bottom of the image below there is a black edge - that is the top step of some steep stairs that go down to the playground. Above those stairs are houses....Makes me so sad to see this and to wonder what damage has been done to such a beautiful park.

 This last image is on Riddell Rd. It is almost 10 min west of us just North of WOU campus. This is a main road that goes into the WOU campus, it has been cut off since yesterday AM. There is a small creek that runs parallel to the road, as you can see there is no creek. Alot of the water the cities are getting is coming down from the mountains and hills and flooding farmland to the point it has nowhere to go because the ground is so saturated, then it just starts going everywhere it can. The Cascades and higher elevations around us received 1-3 FEET of snow in about a 48 hr window. The temps jumped all the way back up to 50 degrees in about a 24 hour window. It is no wonder the water doesnt have anywhere to go....

We received a phone call not too long ago that Preston's main route from Corvallis into Monmouth has just been closed. We are trying to confirm that through our CERT team lead. He will most likely end up going all the way out to the freeway from Corvallis, than back up somehow through Salem and up to 99 from the North side to be able to get home tonight....Could be alot more for him to post by the time he gets home tonight....
